The entrance facade is a monolithic expression of raw, structural concrete, sliced by golden, illuminated veins—a physical manifestation of the Kintsugi philosophy. A massive, warm-toned timber door acts as the soul of the facade, creating a tactile contrast against the cool, industrial stone. As you ascend the concrete steps, the subtle glow of integrated lighting follows the golden paths, guiding you not just into a home, but into a space of intentional transition.
Living in Light: The Lumen Atrium
At the heart of the home lies the Lumen Atrium, a space where architecture serves as an environmental engine. Here, the living area feels weightless. We’ve designed a kitchen that eschews bulky cabinetry, favoring floating elements that allow light to permeate every corner. The floor, a sophisticated blend of terracotta tiles, is mapped with those signature gold-resin lines, which seem to "mend" the floor into a cohesive, artistic landscape. It is here that the house breathes, with light filtering through to illuminate the textures of the cedar wood and raw concrete.
The Sanctuary of Stillness
Moving into the private wings, the Meditation Room stands as a testament to Wabi-Sabi. The room is a vessel for focus: clean, linear, and utterly quiet. A single shoji-inspired window provides diffused, milky light that dances on the textured concrete walls. In the center, a simple woven mat and a single cushion invite deep meditation, while the floor remains consistent with the rest of the home—a grounding, earthy terracotta that bridges the gap between the internal peace of the room and the rugged reality of the structure.
The Vertical Flow
The internal circulation is defined by the staircase—a modern architectural centerpiece. We have moved away from the ornate, favoring a design of pure structural honesty. The stair treads, crafted from rich, sustainably sourced oak, provide warmth underfoot, while the verticality of the space is emphasized by slim, matte-black steel supports. This design creates a transparent, airy transition between levels, allowing the eye to travel through the home without obstruction. It is modern, graphic, and strikingly simple.
The Rooftop: An Energy-Harvesting Garden
Ascending to the summit, the rooftop is where technology meets tranquility. The Sky-Garden features transparent, solar-integrated ceramic tiles that mimic the traditional Japanese kawara aesthetic while powering the home. At dusk, the space transforms: the "Kintsugi path"—a stone walkway etched with glowing gold lines—mirrors the constellations above. With a minimal wooden pavilion for star-gazing and a sculptural water feature providing a constant, soothing white noise, the rooftop is the ultimate intersection of sustainable luxury and meditative retreat.
The Outdoor Living Experience
Finally, the outdoor lounge serves as an extension of the interior. A sunken seating area carved directly into the deck puts you at water level with the infinity pool, which visually spills over into the horizon. The terracotta flooring, adorned with gold, continues from the interior out to the pool edge, blurring the boundaries between inside and outside. As the sun sets, the pool reflects the warm, golden hues of the home, creating a sanctuary that feels as though it has been carved from the landscape itself.
